Who are we?
Whalewatch is a network of over 40 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from around the world, united by a common belief that whaling should be banned because it is inherently cruel.

Our goal
To maintain the International Whaling Commission (IWC) ban on commercial whaling and to show the world that the whaling debate is not just about numbers and conservation, but also about animal suffering.

How?
We focus on the severe suffering that the whale goes through while being hunted at sea. Watch the video on this page to understand the suffering involved.

Whaling is the hunting of whales for their meat and other products. The main types of whaling conducted today are commercial whaling, aboriginal subsistence whaling and scientific whaling (also known as special permit whaling).
